Look out!
One of my lifelong dreams (really. I have a picture of me when I'm like
14 grinning next to a Porsche booth at the Osh-Kosh air festival... and
there are very few pictures of me from that age, and definitely none with
me smiling) was to own a porsche, and now I finally do, thanks to
Maurice
Evans. Here are some pictures of my prize possesion, a 1971 911T, with
about 135,000 miles.
I have been commuting for about 2 years now, and was beginning to dread
getting up and getting back in the car for today's 100 miles of driving.
Since I bought my 911, tho, I have been driving around after work just
for fun, on top of driving it to work every day. Sigh. This is what driving
is supposed to be like.
Its a bit crazier here in Minnesota, tho. For one thing, the highway
patrol has radars (unlike beloved California!). And for half the year the
ground is ensconced in a thick layer of ice, which gets covered with a
layer of salt, which would rust the crap out of this car (Porsche didn't
start galvanizing the body panels until 1977!). So, I store my car for
6 months out of the year. Let me tell you, come April and I can barely
sleep thinking about taking my car out for a spin. Really does make you
appreciate summer that much more!
well, the days of glory have come and gone--i finally sold this beautiful car
in late august, 2000. i'm going to the south pole for a year and i'm having an
"everything must go!" type sale. i was very sad to see this car go, and i
hope to have another one in the future.
