Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy the Show!

You've landed at Maurice Evans' temporary home page, created by his friend Andrea, after she decided mailto:'s weren't enough. Of course, she is me, typing, and that's getting a bit awkward being in the third person.

I met Maurice at San Francisco State University, where we were both majoring in Physics. I had been working for Dr. Roger Bland for a couple years when Maurice joined the group our "senior" year. (It was the year we both graduated, but I had 6 years into my BS and Maurice had about 8. SFSU tends to be like that.) It was all downhill from there. Weekly trips to McDonalds, laughing ourselves silly. Vast arguments about politics and all manner of philopshopy.

We graduated; I started working at QualiTau, Maurice had a half-baked plan to become a network specialist. Then my company needed another engineer, and Maurice was ready for a "normal" job. So he joined me at QualiTau. We worked side by side for a few months (including commuting--I think about 2 months went by with me playing my beloved P.J. Harvey tape every day before he finally mentioned as how Harvey wasn't his *favorite* musician. Maurice is one of the nicest guys I know!), until he moved to Tucson, AZ with his girlfriend, Amanda McPherson (whose excellent writing can be found various places on the net, such as The Blue Moon and posthoc.)

In January, 1998, Maurice found an automobile that set my heart a-racing--a 1967 Porsche 912. This car is beautiful! Maurice has had a history of cool and classic cars (wrecked a handful of them, unfortunately!). Feast your eyes upon the latest (click on the picture for more pix!):

And here are some pictures of Maurice himself:

Ok, Maurice doesn't even know this page exists yet! It's like a big birthday surprise! What else can I say about him? He's a great friend, got me through some very tough times, and seeded the idea for me to get my own Porsche. I miss having lunch at Dairy Belle down in Sunnyvale, CA with the gang. Which includes Mike Casolo, even though the slacker didn't come to my going-away party (where the MCE pictures are from), so I don't have any snaps of him.

Maurice and I argue about everything, secretly we must love it! We used to listen to KQED every day on the way in and then argue about the day's issues all day. And I don't think we've both ever agreed that we liked the same movie (perhaps Austin Powers being an exception!). But what fun!!
