Everyone has their thing, and all my friends can tell you I'm all about my couch. Not really in couch potato style (I don't have any tv channels where I live--not a single sorry one!), but I just find the couch to be especially comfortable. I don't know what other people like to sit on.
While I'm sitting on my couch, I've been known to watch a movie now and then. In one especially "transitional" year, I watched over 400 movies in about 10 months. I finally broke down and bought a dvd player a while ago, once I realized most dvd releases had widescreen option. I simply cannot stand watching some movies in pan and scan. Sure, I'll play Fast Times At Ridgemont High, or some other not-especially-cinematographically-stunning movie in p&s, but if I can have the option, why alter the directors original vision?
Looking for something interesting to rent? Try one of these (but don't try looking at Blockbuster--do yourself a favor and check out the local indie store). I spent about 2 years working at one and it was, I must admit, the best job I have ever had. Great boss, free tape, and I was getting paid to watch and talk movies!
